MyBookmark privacy policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

MyBookmark (Mon marque-page in French) is an Android reading tracker published by Libergot. This page explains what data the app uses, where it goes, and what you can do with it.

In short: MyBookmark collects no personal data. There is no account, no advertising, no usage analytics and no tracking. Your books, ratings and reviews stay on your phone; I never have access to them.

1. The data you enter

The books in your library, your shelves, your progress, your reading dates, your ratings and your reviews are stored only on your phone, in the app's database. They are not sent to any server: MyBookmark doesn't have one.

2. Searching for books

When you search for a book, or for a book cover, the text you type (or the ISBN read from a barcode) is sent to two public search services:

ServiceWhat is sentWhat comes back
Open Library (Internet Archive) Your search terms, or an ISBN Titles, authors, summaries and covers
Apple (iTunes Search API) Your search terms, and your phone's country, to search the right national store Titles, authors and covers

No personal data is attached to these requests: no name, no identifier, nothing from your library. As with any internet connection, these services see your connection's IP address and handle it under their own privacy policies (Internet Archive, Apple).

When you import a Goodreads library, the ISBN of each imported book is sent to Open Library to find its cover. Nothing else from your file leaves your phone.

Downloaded covers are cached on your phone so they display faster.

3. Your phone's images and camera

If you pick a cover from your gallery, the image is copied into the app's storage and is not sent anywhere. MyBookmark only accesses the images you select yourself.

To scan a book's barcode, MyBookmark uses the camera, only while the scanner screen is open. The barcode is read on your phone: camera images are neither saved nor sent. Only the ISBN that was read is then used for the search.

4. Sharing and saving images

MyBookmark can create an image of your reading progress. It is only shared when you ask:

Once an image is shared, how it is used is up to the app or service you chose.

5. Export and import

Export creates a file containing your whole library, in the location you choose. MyBookmark does not send it anywhere. Import, of a backup or of a Goodreads export, only reads the file you select.

6. The home screen widget

If you add the MyBookmark widget to your home screen, it shows the title, author, cover and progress of the book you're reading. This information stays on your phone, in the app's storage; it is simply visible to anyone looking at your home screen.

7. Rating the app and writing to me

8. Permissions

9. Children

MyBookmark collects no data from anyone, children included. The app contains no ads and no purchases.

10. Deleting your data

All your data is on your phone: you can delete it at any time by removing books in the app, clearing the app's data in Android settings, or uninstalling it. Since no data is kept anywhere else, there is nothing else to delete.

11. Changes

If the way MyBookmark works changes in a way that affects your data, this page will be updated and its date changed.
